The Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to present the 4th annual Dragons’ Den Meaford on Wednesday, October 24th, 2012 at Meaford Hall.
Once again, an enthusiastic panel of Dragons from the local business community will review submissions presented by aspiring entrepreneurs seeking start-up funds. Each of the five Dragons will award a minimum of $1250 to one or more contestants and often contribute more.
New for 2011 was a “Peoples Choice” award awarded to the contestant who received the most votes from the audience. Five dollars from every ticket sold was put into a prize fund awarded at the end of the evening. It proved very popular and successful so it looks as though we'll be doing it again! This is your chance to get even more involved in this very popular event and help our local entrepreneurs to succeed.
Modeled after the popular CBC television program, Dragons’ Den Meaford is a unique spin-off event that has kick-started several local businesses since its inception three years ago. This event has created five new Meaford business start-ups. $57,000 in cash and in-kind contributions has been injected into Meaford’s economy since 2009. The competition is open, for the first time this year, to expansions of existing businesses.
In 2010 Dragons’ Den Meaford won the Business Retention / Expansion Award from the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO).
